Henry recently visited Boston and saw aunts, uncles, and cousins. Here Cousin Ray and Nancy admire grapes at a winery in New Hampshire. The grapes were about to be harvested. While in Boston, Ray and Henry attended a Red Sox game. Our presence did not help the faultering team, but we had great seats and enjoyed the day. Henry recently visited Colorado Springs and took the Manitou and Pike's Peak Railway to the summit - 14,110 feet. The trip up took 1 hour and 10 minutes and the views were spectacular. In advance of a recent business trip to Colorado, I toured on Canyon Drive between Boulder and Nederland with a stop at Boulder Falls. Also traversed Berthoud Pass and the Trail Ridge Road, the highest road in the US. One of the most photographed lighthouses in the world is located on Campobello Island in New Brunswick. The island is also the home of the former FDR Summer Cottage. Henry recently visited this beautiful location along with St. Andrews-by-the-Sea, and Acadia National Park in Maine. In late March, a severe thunderstorm with heavy winds and close lightning strikes caused a tree to fall onto our property. March brings an assortment of photos from the US Capitol, to San Francisco, to the "Super Moon" rise. While in DC, I had dinner in the Mansfield Room of the Capitol building. Several Legislators stopped by to visit. While out West, our conference dined at the St. Frances Yacht Club where there were neat views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island. Christmas 2010 was extra special as we celebrated it at Mom's for the first time in many years. After a nice dinner with wine and dessert, we opened gifts and enjoyed the season. Just before Christmas, Mom "starred" in a holiday extravaganza at a local women's club luncheon. Her sisters from Boston and Lady Lake and I attended along with our spouses. Henry and his AAA Corporate Affairs staff recently volunteered at Give Kids the World in Orlando. We painted the exterior of two villas, painted and sorted in a storage center, and worked with the entertainment staff by organizing materials for various events. Twenty-one of us made a significant contribution for the day that directly benefited children with life threatening or terminal illnesses. Henry, joined by Mike, Gene, Jim and Biddy (The Belknap Five) dedicate a granite bench on October 23, 2010. The bench and a historical marker were presented to the town of Center Harbor during an alumni reunion in fond memory of Belknap College which is now closed.
